I'm Xenia Oakley and I created Rose and May in 2011. After having two children I decided on a change in career. My mother was a huge inspiration to me. She was always creating, whether it be spinning, weaving or sewing many items either for decoration or use around the house. We both enjoyed flicking through interior design magazines and dreaming up ideas to decorate our homes. Therefore it was an easy decision to go into the soft furnishing business.
I completed a professional curtain and blind making course and created my business. I have a workroom set up at home and carry out all the work myself. The majority of the stitching is done by hand, including attaching the linings and the interlinings. I take great pride in ensuring my finished product is of the highest standard.
I really enjoy talking to clients about their requirements, likes and dislikes and coming up with a plan with them. I am happy to suggest and order samples of fabrics to help with the final decision.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my family and trawling through antique shops.
